Surely you have asked yourself once, whether vegetables for dogs is healthy. And indeed vegetables can be a tasty change and exciting alternative in the bowl of your four-legged. Inputs present you the 5 healthiest vegetables for dogs.

1. Carrot – the classic

In the top 5 of the healthiest vegetables for dogs, the carrot must not be missing. And this has good reasons: The carrot tastes very excellent for most of the four-legged animals, is easy to prepare and is bursting in front of valuable beta-carotene.

This so-called secondary plant material is said to strengthen the eyesight according to popular beliefs. Regardless of whether this story belongs to the realm of fables, the carrot strengthens the health of your dog as beta-carotene plays an important role in the fight against free radicals.

  • Tip: In order for your quadruped to benefit from the healthy effect of the carrot, you should purée the vegetables and serve them with fat. This allows your little one to more easily absorb the beta-carotene.

2. Zucchini- the delicious alternative

Have you ever offered your dog a Zucchini? If not, however, it is high time: Most dogs love the taste of the green pumpkin seed!

Similar to the carrot, the Zucchini have earned their place among the top 5 healthy vegetables for dogs because they receive a lot of beta-carotene and therefore play an important role in the fight against free radicals.

As with the carrot, the Zucchini should be served with a fatty feed so your dog can more easily take up the beta-carotene.healthy dogs

3. Wild plants – good for digestion

This situation has probably already been experienced by every dog owner: the dog eats grass. The fact that some bimedians are a source of wonder and worried expression is, in reality, a completely natural and thus healthy behavior.

Wild plants have a whole series of positive properties: they contain healthy starch, valuable trace elements and have an anti-digestion effect.

These characteristics can be harvested by the parents of the chicks and the wild plants can be mixed with the feed. Among the healthy wild plants are for example Klee, Ferkelkraut, and Hainsalat.

  • Tip: Some dogs love a freshly made grass smoothie. The preparation is very easy – just mix the grasses and mix with a little water in the dog bowl!

4. Potato – good for the stomach

Gastrointestinal disorders are an unpleasant thing not only for mothers and moms but also for your four-legged friends. If your dog has survived the disease and lost fluid, he needs one thing above all: light digestive energy that spares his attacked stomach!

And here the potato comes into play. The yellow tuber is rich in natural starch, minerals, and fiber. Another positive effect: If your dog has lost fluid in the course of his gastrointestinal illness, the potato is the ideal feed, because it consists of about 78 percent water.

Please note that you should only eat boiled potatoes because your dog can not digest raw potatoes. Caution is also recommended with green germinating potatoes since these are toxic for humans and animals.

Caution: There are some foods that can be very dangerous for your darling. Every dog owner and dog owner should be aware of this! In our article on toxic food for dogs, we have put together the greatest dangers for the well-being of your four-legged friend.

5. Cabbage – the natural cancer care

Cancer is one of the most common causes of death for dogs: Almost every fourth quadruple develops a tumor in the course of one’s life, and every second dog over 10 years dies of cancer.

In order to prevent this terrible fate, many dog friends swear by cabbage. Broccoli, Red Cabbage, China kohl, Kohlrabi, and Co. contains a high concentration of so-called antioxidants, which protect the cells of animal organisms and thus prevent cancer.

In addition, the feeding of cabbages is also associated with a shiny coat, which is not scientifically proven. However, cabbage is one of the best vegetables for dogs.

  • Caution: Be careful to feed cabbage only moderately and cooked. The reason is a substance called thiocyanate, which acts negatively on the thyroid function of you’re quadrupling in too large doses. Therefore always mix the cabbage only in small doses below the regular feed!

Even more healthy vegetable varieties

In addition to the 5 healthiest vegetables for dogs, there are, of course, a number of other plants that will please your quadruped. Broccoli contains lots of carotene, calcium, potassium, sodium, iron and vitamins. However, it should be fed only with steam, since it can cause bloating.

Beetroots contain many vitamins and minerals and have high folic acid content. It also has an appetizing and digestive effect. When feeding spinach, you should remove all the stems and leaf fans. These contain nitrate, which is converted by dogs into health-endangering nitrite.healthy dogs

Make vegetables for dogs properly

For which vegetables you decide, one thing you should be aware of: All herbal food ingredients should always be pureed. Dogs lack an enzyme that destroys the cell wall of plants. Therefore, your favorite is only the valuable vitamins and minerals, if the cell walls are destroyed before mechanically.

Of these vegetables, you prefer to leave your fingers

As our top 5 of the healthy vegetables for dogs showed you, a little vegetable change in the dog bowl is a good thing – but you should definitely leave your finger on the laurels! These contain sulfides, which can be fatal for dogs.

To the vegetables, which receive sulfides and should not be fed to dogs, in any case, include onions, garlic, chives, and leeks. Some dog owners point out that these vegetables are only harmful in larger quantities – but you should still do without them.

Feeding chicory is often recommended. This vegetable is very nutritious but tastes very bitter and is therefore rejected by many dogs. The same is true for fennel, the oils of which most quadrupeds do not particularly like.healthy dogs
