We speak with experts in the bridal sector and they give us their wedding plan (tips) and recommendations when organizing a link in times of covid-19.
With the arrival of covid-19, our lives hit the pause button and everything stopped. Celebrations, birthdays, events, and of course weddings were canceled. However, many couples did not give up and chose to celebrate their wedding on their own, in the true American style, with an elopement wedding or getaway wedding (but from the living room, of course).
If you are one of these brave couples who have decided to go ahead with their tips and are determined to celebrate your love, we encourage you to continue reading and discover the recommendations and advice of experts in the sector.
What is being the biggest difficulty?
We spoke with Carmen Fernández, Something Blue, and she told us that uncertainty, not knowing what is going to happen in the coming months, is one of the greatest difficulties that engaged couples are facing: not knowing in what conditions will they be able to celebrate the event when the date arrives.
This is how future girlfriend Clara is living it, who is currently organizing her bond with Ernesto, and agrees that the worst thing about this process is not being able to have everything well tied up and under control. Without neglecting “the need to consider additional factors to those that, in itself, must be considered when organizing a wedding (which are not few)”, the bride adds.
What have been the changes that have affected today’s weddings the most?
One of the main aspects that are worrying the couple the most is the fact that the cocktail and the open bar have to take place with all the guests seated. Dancing is one of the things we miss the most, but Carmen Fernández has the solution. The wedding deviser offers her couples other alternatives that will encourage the guests and make that day an unforgettable evening, such as a live musical performance.
Likewise, to celebrate a safe wedding that respects all the measures, it is essential to take into account the limited capacity and the maximum number of guests that we can sit at the same table during lunch or dinner.
Also, don’t forget that you will most likely have to narrow down your guest list and change your honeymoon destination. For the rest, he tells us, everything is developing in a way that is as similar as possible to what he has always imagined.
Intimate weddings are the order of the day
And it is that when life gives us lemons, we cannot avoid making lemonade. Therefore, despite the complex situation we are living in, getting married at this time also has its advantages. From Something Blue they recommend it – as long as that is how the bride and groom want to celebrate it – since a smaller wedding has more advantages than we think.
In addition, for those couples who love details, a smaller celebration gives a lot of play, since everything is more affordable with a reduced number of guests. From including more decoration details to adding a special wine a la carte. Not forgetting that they can always celebrate their love again when the pandemic passes with a big party, adds the wedding planner.
And what about wedding dresses?
Another very important question in the organization of a wedding is the choice of the wedding dress (especially for most fashionista brides). And, what kind of dress do we choose for an intimate wedding? The celebrities who have married during the first months of the new normal seem to be clear about it and are betting on bridal tailored suits.
However, there are options for all tastes. The designer Andrea Lanza, along with the entire bridal sector, has had to reinvent herself under this premise and has given birth to other types of more functional silhouettes and dresses. “More off-road garments to be able to wear them at another time and especially that they are convertible and timeless pieces,” he tells us.
One of his girlfriends, named Carmen, who got engaged before the start of the pandemic, had in mind to make a kind of destination wedding, that is, a wedding that was also a trip. However, the situation forced her to delay her plans, and with them, her wedding dress. She was very clear about what she wanted and fell in love with one of Andrea Lalanza’s designs.
By having an atelier, the bride was able to redesign the dress, personalizing it and adding certain parts of “removable and put” so that it could be useful in case they consider something more reduced or informal.
Latest recommendations.
The wedding planner sends a message to all those couples who have decided to go ahead with their marriage. Once the decision has been made, do not hesitate, rest assured that they are going to do what they want and trust that the suppliers they have chosen for their big day will help them to bring the event to fruition for sure, the entire sector is looking forward to working and setting an example that beautiful and safe weddings can be made.
Finally, Clara, who knows exactly what all the brides are going through, also sends a message of hope to all the brides who are in their situation: “Do not be discouraged! We must enjoy the process of organizing such a day as special, lean on family and closest friends, and maintain the illusion of taking care of all the details as if, with total security, the wedding could be celebrated on the chosen day. Whatever happens, it will continue to be an extraordinary day.
