The Great British weather in summer can be erratic to say the least. Despite promising forecasts, you can never be completely confident that your outdoor party plans will go ahead without a shower or two. You shouldn’t less this dampen your party spirit though as here are some ways to carry on celebrating despite the grey clouds:
- Move Inside
If the weather forecast looks particularly grim then see if you have a plan B which involves moving your party indoors. It might not be ideal space-wise but it’s what will happen naturally as people move to get out of the rain so you may as well prepare for it. Maybe you can set up your garage as a plan B location, if it’s not full of junk that is! Plan to clear out your garage, throw down some old blankets or tarp on the grubby bits and have some tables and chairs in there as a back-up plan. Burgers can be cooked just as effectively on the stove, grill or on a BBQ in the garage, so it just becomes a house party instead!
- Don’t Cancel
Whatever you do, don’t cancel. Think about all the food and drink you’ve bought and the planning that’s gone in the day. See if you get hold of people and amend the timing if the weather is set to improve later in the day. Most Brits understand that nobody can control the changeable nature of our climate so will understand and most will have made no other plans for party day so can accommodate your need to change.
- Bring the Outside In
If there’s no avoiding a stormy forecast and you can plan ahead a little, turn your indoors into the outdoors with a tropical beach or garden themed party. Decorate inside with tropical themes, fake grass, outdoor furniture etc to give your home a real garden vibe without actually having to be in the garden.
- Hire a marquee
If you’re staging a party for a slightly more important occasion like a surprise birthday or wedding reception then to guarantee your guests won’t get washed out, think about putting up shelter in the form of a fashionable, attractive marquee. They also offer a fantastic blank canvas for you to decorate with any colour or theme you desire. For Marquee Hire Kent, visit https://www.2intents.co.uk/
- Introduce a New Theme
If your party date is expected to be a washout then embrace the chaos and run a rain-themed celebration instead. Ask guests to bring waterproofs, research some rain-themed games to play and find rainy decorations too. Give your food watery-themed names and let the kids jump around in their wellies! Nobody should mind this too much if it’s warm as well.
- Action Stations
Work together with your family on a plan, should the heavens suddenly open. Each person should have their own job if it rains so that nobody panics and drops the vol-au-vents but all food is saved in a calm fashion with the party continuing without a hitch.
