How often do you put on clothes? Every single day, hopefully!
Most of us get dressed most days. We might choose to stay in our nightwear if we’re sick or having a duvet day, but otherwise, the expectation is that we put some clothes on.
Most days, we will spend more than half an hour in front of a mirror each. It’s not always the most glamorous use of time, and there are many people for whom the act of dressing is done in more of a rush! But assuming that we all dress in our homes and we do most days, then dressing up might not be an exceptional activity, but it is definitely something we do, and we do it a lot.
Given this fact, it’s surprising that there’s so little attention paid to how we do it. There’s nothing so enjoyable as getting up in the morning and feeling that all you need to do is put on what’s in front of you. There’s nothing so painful as opening the wardrobe and finding that all your clothes are in a heap on the floor, and it doesn’t matter what you have, because nothing matches and nothing is clean. A good wardrobe is great; it makes your life better. A bad wardrobe, by contrast, can be a nightmare – we all get to a point where we’re out of patience with our clothes and stuff, and what happens then is an important question.
