Telephones have certainly become a massive and integral part of our everyday lives. Their size, shape, construction, different functions and abilities have changed dramaticaly throughout the years. Alexander Graham Bell invented “talking through wires” back in 1876 when he spoke to his assistant Mr Watson and said “Mr Watson-come here-I want to see you”. The first working telephone model was called the Centennial and was demonstrated at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia on 25th June 1876.
Further modifications have added to the ability of telephones, things like tone dialling, music on hold, call tracing, size, style and choice of ring tones have all contributed to this incredible invention allowing us to communicate with others around the globe. Like a PDF to Excel file modern telephones are changing the face of the Earth for the good.
Cordless home phones and mobiles are now an everyday piece of technology we take for granted in our busy lives. Not only used just to talk to other people we now use our phones for emails, web searching, taking photos, videos, sending messages and countless other practical uses. Where would our modern-day youth be without a mobile phone in their hands? Even the older generation are now getting to grips with this modern technology and keep in touch with family and friends easily. The modern telephone has certainly come along, long way since that first crude model made by Alexander Graham Bell.
