Keeping your ceiling tiles clean

Linda Blair February 20, 2019 Reviews Leave a Comment

When you’re at work, chances are you’re not giving much thought to the ceiling. Unless you’re daydreaming or deep in thought, you probably don’t look up very often. However, it might be worth taking a closer look, particularly if your ceiling consists of acoustic tiling.

This type of tiling is highly common throughout businesses and public buildings in the UK. They can be seen in office buildings, schools, hospitals and just about any communal space that needs practical ceiling options. They are popular because of their fire-resistant properties and reduce noise between floors of a building. They are also used to improve the quality and circulation of air inside a room, so perform very important functions.

However, as with any surface, the ceiling will become grubby over time if not cleaned and maintained. If they are allowed to accumulate layers of dirt and dust, their important functions will be impeded, as well as looking unsightly to staff and visitors. Just because you might not notice them, doesn’t your clients or customers won’t! For Office cleaning in Cheltenham, visit http://intocleaning.co.uk

Dirty or dusty roof tiles can make a space look darker than it should be and rather shabby too. They could be detracting from your otherwise highly professional and impressive commercial interior. Here are some methods for giving those important tiles a good spring clean:

  1. Keep the ventilation system clean

If there is a ventilation system in your workplace, any dirt or dust inside it might be contributing to the dingy look of your ceiling tiles. Dust particles attract static when they are inside an unmaintained ventilation system. This means they will stick to ceiling tiles, making them appear dirtier far quicker than they would normally. Always ensure your air ducts are cleaned annually, fully maintained and filters are regularly replaced to help your ceiling stay bright.

  1. Think about vacuuming up not just down

Never tried upside hoovering? This can be an effective way of removing some dust and dirt from your ceiling, if you have a hose extension on your vacuum cleaner. If you have a hoover that isn’t practical for upside down cleaning, grab a broom and remove cobwebs and dust this way instead. After this, don’t forget to pop the hoover around the carpets underneath to collect the dust you’ve dislodged.

  1. Hydrogen Peroxide

For those who feel confident using a strong cleaning fluid, hydrogen peroxide is a good choice for applying to grubby ceiling tiles. If in doubt, ask a professional to come in and do it for you. This method works well in spaces such as kitchens where tiles can absorb greasy, grimy cooking fumes.
