2022 autumn wardrobe: do’s and don’ts

With the crisp morning air and the days that get shorter and shorter, autumn is finally making itself present, which makes it the perfect time to sort out our wardrobes and think about what outfits we’re going to wear for the next 3 months. If you want to know how to style your clothes and what mistakes to avoid making this season, here are some do’s and don’ts for this autumn.

Do: Invest in good fabrics

Autumn weather can be amazing with the light winds that caress your face and make the colorful leaves elegantly fall from the trees in the parks, but it can also get quite nasty and gloomy, with all the constant rains and harsh storms. Because of this it is crucial to invest in clothing that could be made of high-quality fabrics that help you insulate your body temperature, and are preferably water-resistant. Merino wool, tweed, tartan, flannel, as well as other woolen blends should definitely be the ones you’re looking for when shopping for your autumn wardrobe.

Don’t: Store all of your summer clothing

As much as we all hope to have an atmospheric autumn with colorful parks and rainy evening, the autumnal weather can be quite unpredictable Don’t store all of the clothes that you’ve worn during the last 3 months in boxes, as autumn might spoil us with a few sunny days especially in September so that you might still have time to wear your beloved summer clothing.

Do: Wear patterns

Autumn is all about plaid scarves, patterned sweaters, and traditional motifs, so it would be a crime not to take advantage of this great time. A voluminous sweater with distinctive stitches and patterns should be a part of everyone’s wardrobe, man or woman, and when combined with some straight leg jeans and a pair of Converse shoes, it makes the perfect, comfy and cozy autumn outfit. If you’re looking for something more elegant, wear a scarf with traditional Celtic details like the tree of life, the knot, or the triquetra to elevate your looks. A Celtic patterned scarf as these https://www.gaelsong.com/prod_detail_list/accessories-celtic-scarves combined with a basic white shirt and black trousers outfit can create great autumnal attire that makes you look sophisticated and stylish.

Don’t: Mix too many patterns together

Wearing patterns can create beautiful outfits, but if you mix too many of them together, you will seem messy and far from the stylish look you aspired for. Your Celtic scarf won’t look as good as he truly is when you combine him with paid pants, a flannel shirt, and a tartan jacket.  You should learn to gradually add colors and patterns to your basic outfits to make them truly stand out.

Do: Layer

The key to keeping yourself warm during autumn is actually not how big and thick your jacket or coat is, but how many layers of clothes you have underneath. Pair your thin, lightweight turtleneck with an oversized hoodie or a V-neck cardigan or go for a combination between a button-up shirt and a sweater vest for the warmer autumn days. For your legs, tights and stockings are a must; no matter how much we hated them when our moms made us wear them in middle school, these things are a necessity if you want to protect your legs from freezing, whether you’re wearing skirts or trousers.

Don’t: Go bare-legged

As previously mentioned, tights, especially the black ones, should be present in every woman’s wardrobe. This has nothing to do with the way your legs look or and we’re definitely not here to make you feel insecure about them, but bare legs simply don’t look appropriate for autumn outfits. Mini-skirts are great for summer and they can still be worn during the sunnier days in early September, but a combination between a mini-skirt, a sweater, and a long coat looks more than bizarre when seen on the streets.
