Keeping Skin Hydrated on Long-Haul Flights

Linda Blair March 14, 2017 Reviews Leave a Comment

When you fly, your skin takes a lot of abuse due to the dry recycled air in the cabin. Your skin can easily become dehydrated due to the lack of moisture in the air and the unnatural oxygen levels. Long-haul flights are the worst, as you are breathing in that type of air for a longer period of time. Read on to discover how to counteract the negative effects of air travel on your skin.

Drink Water

Keeping skin hydrated is a difficult task when on a long-haul flight. However, there are ways to combat the stale dry air. One important way to keep your skin dewy fresh is to hydrate from within. So make sure you drink plenty of water during your flight. Fruit juice, flavoured mineral water and squash are all fine to drink, as all these drinks help to hydrate you.

Avoid Alcohol

The one drink you need to stay away from is alcohol, because this type of beverage can actually dehydrate your skin further, leaving the skin dry and making you look older and tired. If you do have a glass of wine or beer, make sure you also have a non-alcoholic drink afterwards to combat the dehydration effects.

Use a Quality Moisturiser

Another great way to help your skin stay hydrated is to keep it moisturised with a high-quality moisturiser, such as the face creams that come with Nivea travel kits. These types of travel kits are ideal for all skin types and can be found from many stockists and stores, both online and offline, such as http://www.lifeandlooks.com/nivea-mens-essentials-travel-kit.html.

Keep Skin Clean

A good way to start a day of travelling is to clean your skin thoroughly. Use a good high-quality facial cleanser to make sure the pores are clean and the face is ready to accept your moisture cream. Then use upward strokes to smooth the moisturiser into your skin gently. By cleansing and moisturising your skin first thing, you can hydrate the skin in advance of your flight.

Use a Facial Spritzer

Another tip for long-haul flying is to pack a facial spritzer or spray so you can spray a fine jet of water over your face occasionally. This helps to keep it hydrated from the outside and can also give your skin a dewy finish.
