Whether you’re a professional mechanic or you like to tinker in your spare time, it’s important to keep your workshop neat and tidy. A messy workshop is both distracting and dangerous. Bringing some organisation to your workshop will boost your productivity and make the most of the space you have. Read on for some great tips on how to better organise your workshop.

Tool cabinet

Your tools are your most valuable asset, therefore you should treat them with the utmost respect. Having them strewn around your workshop will eat up space and could lead to them being damaged. A tool cabinet has a number of different sized drawers and trays to help organise your tools. A tool cabinet will fit in a corner of a small room but will have enough space to ensure your drills, nails and sockets are all in one place –  https://halfordsblog.com/2015/09/02/organise-your-workshop/.

Shelves

Getting things off the floor and onto walls will transform the feel and size of your workshop. Shelves will stop paint tins, oil cans and buckets from cluttering up your floor space. Walls are often an unused storage space but with a few shelves, can be a valuable asset.

Pallet racking

If your workshop is on the larger side then pallet racks can provide the perfect storage solution. Pallet racks are essentially a material handling system made from individual pallets or ‘skids’ fabricated from wood, plastic and metal. They are usually used for storing larger objects that are placed on the pallet racks by a forklift truck. Used pallet racking is available from companies such as www.rackzone.ie/pallet-racking.

Peg boards

Peg boards are one of the most basic ways to store your tools. Attached to your wall, a peg board has a series of holes which allow you to hang almost anything from it. The boards are cheap and easy to maintain and allow you to see everything in your collection at once. The only thing limiting how many peg boards you can hang is the size of your workshop wall.

Conclusion

As you can see there are a number of ways you can easily organise your workshop creating a spacious and safe environment. Make sure you utilise every inch of your workshop, including your walls and ceilings to organise and store your tools.
