Last week I presented you with 5 strategies to improve your online store in 2021 and a few weeks ago Verónica presented us with 8 E-Commerce Trends in 2021, that is why today I want to present you with e-Commerce technology trends that you can evaluate to evolve your online store this 2021.
Strategies are intrinsic to your business. Trends are those in which your target audience is likely to be or the market is moving in that direction. You decide whether or not to be in trend, but remember that if you don’t, your competition is likely to. Let’s review the e-Commerce technology trends 2021 so you can assess taking your online store to the next level.
Technological trends for online stores
GraphQL is a standard for managing information, launched by Facebook and later adopted in countless open-source projects and companies. More than 2 years ago Hellobmw was already wondering: Is GraphQL the API technology of the future? What do you think? From my point of view, it is a solution that will continue to grow and evolve. In the world of e-Commerce, it is expanding with solutions such as hasura.io or Apollo, which offers you a GraphQL and REST API to unify your data from different sources and thus be able to create highly scalable solutions.
Currently, it is becoming the technological standard for the exchange of data in real-time in web applications, some e-Commerce such as Shopify integrate GraphQL.
The Headless CMS is a very popular movie. Why should you use them? Because it allows developers to take control of the structure of the data. And allows content publishers to work freely without difficulties and without technical knowledge.
Some of the most interesting Headless CMS platforms with PWA capability are Storyblok, Prismic.io, Contentstack, Coremedia, and Contentful.
You can also connect a CMS like WordPress and Woocommerce using APIs, the possibilities are endless. This flexibility allows you to change the front end of your e-commerce without having secondary effects on the backend operations.
Headless systems are making their way onto the market as a standard in CMS solutions that require high performance and content control.
JAMstack is currently a technology that few adopt, since large CMS such as WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, or Prestashop cloud the market for e-Commerce technology solutions.
The fully scalable architectures are thanks to the Serverless implementation.
In traditional or cloud hosting models, there are precise and recurring physical locations. Where the data is hosted and the functions of your online store are processed. The ‘serverless’ services, without server, are a strategic concept that establishes an event-based configuration, without fixed infrastructure. This does not mean that the servers are not part of the service. But that the servers are automatically created as needed to adapt to the demands of your services and/or clients.
The key differentiator between classic and Serverless cloud services is the pricing model. When nothing is running on your server you continue paying. While in Serverless services you only pay for the times when the service is in use. Besides that these services are fully managed. You forget about server security and updates or maintenance.
As we explained a few weeks ago, microservices provide agility for your e-commerce. They are a trend to decouple monolithic software platforms into smaller units. It can be managed and implemented separately.
The microservices architecture allows these separate services to communicate with each other. Other through serverless events, and connect to your store and purchases on a website or mobile application with APIs.
