8月3日，John Cow发了最后一篇文章《The End》，由于可能会面对John Chow的法律诉讼，他的网站不得不永久关闭了。

Well our friends, it seems the time has come to say goodbye. Nothing lasts forever and to be honest, we were expecting this day to come sooner or later. After proving what you can do with a blog in just one month, some people seem unhappy about our progress and have asked us to cease our blog or face legal consequences.

Carefully considering our current position, we have decided that it’s time to give in. The money we’ve made so far would not cover any lawsuit. It is with great regret that we are throwing in the towel because we really thought we were well on our way to become dot cow millionaires. Oh well, shit happens.

Here’s the letter we received. (sensitive information edited with xxxx)

Dear John Cow,

It has come to our attention that you have made unauthorized use of our copyrighted work xxxx in the preparation of a work derived therefrom. We have reserved all rights in the Work, which was first published in xxxx on http://www.xxxxxxxx.com, and we have registered the copyright.

Your work entitled xxxx and which appears on your web site at http://www.xxxxxxx.com, is essentially identical to the Work and clearly used the Work as its basis.

You neither asked for nor received permission to use the Work as the basis for xxxx nor to make or distribute copies of it. Therefore, we believe you have willfully infringed our rights under 17 USC Section 101, et seq. and could be liable for statutory damages as high as $100,000.

We demand that you immediately cease the use and distribution of all infringing works derived from the Work, and all copies of it, and that you deliver to us all unused, undistributed copies of it, or destroy such copies immediately, and that you desist from this or any other infringement of our rights in the future. If we have not received an affirmative response from you by xx/xx/xx indicating that you have fully complied with these requirements, we shall consider taking the full legal remedies available to rectify this situation.

So there you have it. Some people just can’t play nice and we’re sure some bloggers will have a field day with this article. We are currently not at freedom to disscuss any further details.
